Conference News: What I learned this week – August 26
Return of Pride & Prejudice: The Economist Pride & Prejudice event will return in 2017. It will again be held across three regions, with events in New York, Hong Kong and London on 23 March. The Economist’s goal is to “advance the global discussion on LGBT diversity and inclusion, particularly by focusing on the economic and business costs of LGBT discrimination and the profitable opportunities that lie in overcoming it.” Each of the event locations will bring together more than 200 business, political and civil society leaders to examine LGBT business issues. Clinton Confab Concludes: The mission of the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) is to “turn ideas into action”. Since 2005 the event has brought together global leaders develop innovative solutions some of the world’s biggest problems. Last week, former president Bill Clinton announced that the CGI annual meeting (19 – 21 September in New York) will be the 12th and final of these gatherings, in order to avoid any potential conflict with wife Hillary Clinton’s presidential aspirations. Speaking Opportunity: DATAVERSITY Education, LLC and DAMA International released a Call for Presentations for the 2017 Enterprise Data World Conference to be held at the Omni Atlanta Hotel in Atlanta Georgia on 2 – 7 April, 2017. Enterprise Data World will again include the CDO Vision Forum focused on Data Strategy topics for Chief Data Officers and the NoSQL Now! Conference focused on NoSQL technologies and databases. Submit proposals online by 3 October.

Watch highlights from the 2016 US event and learn about how machine learning, digital design, and omni-channel communication tactics are improving customer connections.
Coming Up Next: Two large enterprise technology companies are holding annual conferences next week. HP’s Big Data Conference will be in Boston from 29 August – 1 September. On the other side of the country, VMworld returns to Las Vegas bringing with it more than 20,000 attendees.
