DigiPublish Crosses the Pond: World Forum Disrupt, an organization which runs global events has decided to bring its DigiPublish conference to the US for the first time on March 30, 2017. The new conference, which has been held twice in London, will focus its New York edition on four topic areas: How to utilize 3rd party publishers; Monetization and future revenue opportunities; How important wearable tech is to publishers; and What type of content will be most relevant in the future. The audience will be made up of professionals within publishing companies who are responsible for digital strategy, social media, advertising, monetization, etc. The London events have attracted 250 attendees which is also the goal for New York.
Independence Day: During its annual Town Hall member meeting last month, the (ISC)² International Information Systems Security Certification Consortium announced that its seventh annual Security Congress will, for the first time, be held as an independent event. Previously the conference was collocated with ASIS International Seminar. According to the organization, “the decision was made to break away this year after surveying members following past Congresses” and learning that (ISC)² members wanted their own event. The 2017 (ISC)² Security Congress will take place from 25 – 27 September in Austin, Texas. For more on the decision, read the (ISC)² announcement here.
Speaking Opportunity: A few weeks ago I wrote about networking conference Interop’s evolution into Interop ITX, which will debut on 15 – 19 May 2017 in Las Vegas. The conference has now opened a call for speakers, which will close on 31 October. Speaker/topic proposals must focus on one of the six core areas to be covered at the show: Infrastructure; Security; Cloud; Data Management; DevOps; Leadership & Professional Development. CFP guidelines and speaker submission form may be found here.
Lunchtime Learning: When Shoptalk launched in 2015, few expected it to become one of the largest and hottest retail conferences going. The conference managers recently announced their goal to reach 5000 attendees in 2017 when the event returns to Las Vegas from 19 – 22 March. If you have not attended Shoptalk and would like to know what all the buzz is about, check out some of the sessions from last year’s conference here.
Coming Up Next: SXSW Eco will “create a space for business leaders, policy makers, innovators and designers to advance solutions that drive social, economic and environmental change,” when it kicks off in Austin on Monday. The speaker lineup includes an eclectic mix of socially responsible corporations, non-profits, environmentalists, and celebrities. Then on Thursday, PRWeek hosts its annual confab in New York under the 2016 theme, “The Value Proposition.” Also on Thursday, Quartz’s conference on “the future of the connected world,” The Next Billion, will happen in San Francisco. And finally, from 13 – 16 October, the Stream unconference, hosted by Martin Sorrell, CEO, WPP and investor Yossi Vardi, will convene “a small number of creative, media and technology leaders from WPP agencies, clients and media owners for three days of debate, in a camp on the shores of Marathon, Greece.”
