City Smarts: Building upon a successful 2016 event, the organizers of the Smart Cities Innovation Summit recently announced that they are changing the event name in 2017 to the Smart Cities Connect Conference and expanding the programme. In partnership with US Ignite, the agenda will showcase “innovative solutions for progressive city needs.” The 2017 event will be in Austin Texas from 26 – 29 June.
Fashion & Finance: Earlier this year, Digiday Media announced that it would be launching two new publications, Glossy and Tradestreaming. Glossy’s focus is on helping fashion and luxury brands understand how best to leverage technology and digital channels to stay connected and grow their businesses. Tradestreaming will explore how technology is changing finance. According to the 2017 event calendar, Digiday will host Glossy and Tradestreaming events in both the the spring and fall of next year. While there is limited information available now, the month and location of each events has already been posted.
Speaking Opportunity: The Internet of Things Developers Conference has opened its call for presentations for the 2017 event, taking place from 26 – 27 April in Santa Clara. According to the organizers “IoT DevCon is designed to provide software and system developers the resources to understand and tackle complex challenges of IoT implementations and security.” If you would like to suggest a speaker or topic, do so by the 17 January deadline following the guidelines online.
Lunchtime Learning: One of the hot technologies being discussed at conferences right now is Augmented Reality (AR). Augmented World Expo, which will celebrate its eighth annual conference in June of 2017, has been ahead of the game on coverage of this topic. Watch speakers from last year’s event discuss how AR is changing the nature of how we live, work and play.
Coming Up Next: HIMSS Europe World of Health IT (WoHIT) Conference & Exhibition will gather top European healthcare stakeholders from 21–22 November 2016 in Barcelona. On the same dates in Dublin, Informa will host its Internet of Things World, self-described as Europe’s most comprehensive IOT event. Also next week, Business Today’s 42nd International Conference will bring together 150 undergraduate students from 30 different countries and executives from over 70 different leading companies to discuss the 2016 theme: The Rise of the Millennial Generation: Bridging the Gap.
