Virtually There: Amazon has noted that AWS re:Invent will be run as a free, three-week-long virtual conference from 30 November – 18 December and its AdCon event, which debuted last year will also be virtual this fall. IOT Tech Expo North America will be 100% virtual from 4 – 5 November. And Gartner IT Symposium/Xpo Americas will be held online from 19 – 22 October.
Not just a Cog: The team behind CogX, a three-day festival convening world-leading speakers and attendees from industry, government and academia to explore the real impact of AI, blockchain and emerging technology, has announced that on 2 September, they will be launching CogXtras. CogXtras will be a year-round programme of 30+ weekly half day virtual events with all the elements of the festival: the virtual expo, side events, networking at scale and covering each of the 18 CogX topics.
On the EDGE of my Virtual Seat: The Government Business Executive Forum had planned to launch EDGE, a new partner conference to the CES Government annual summit this month in Washington, D.C. Unfortunately, due to COVID-19, they were not able to host this two-day inaugural event as they originally planned. Instead EDGE will be held as a part-physical, part-virtual seven-part series focused on the future of government technology. The Government Business Executive Forum also announced that CES Government 2021 will be held live in Las Vegas at the Park MGM on 7 – 9 January with the live EDGE conference to follow in August 2021.
Speaking opportunity: DeveloperWeek has restructured its fall virtual programming and will now hold the virtual DeveloperWeek Global: Enterprise from 10-11 November. To achieve a demographic balance in their speaker lineup, they ask that “companies submitting speaker proposals make sure to submit executives from their companies representing a balanced diversity.” Those interested can submit for technical or business presentations or propose a fully populated and moderated panel on several tracks including big data & AI, containers & Kubernetes, microservices architecture, and DevSecOps. Be sure to submit before the Labor Day weekend – this deadline is 4 September.
Lunchtime Learning: When VentureBeat Transform was held virtually last month, the agenda highlight the companies that are breaking down barriers with AI and showing demonstrable advances through innovative AI technologies. Check out some of the case studies on the conference video hub, including How Chase invested early and big in AI & ML to enhance customer experiences, How Walmart is implementing AI & ML algorithms to make shopping easier, and How LinkedIn Builds Holistic AI at Scale to ensure personalization, inclusivity, and fairness.
Coming Up Next Week: Because building the critical communications industry is more important today than ever before, the International Wireless Communications Expo (IWCE) will hold a virtual program 24-27 August covering public safety, 5G, and plenty of special programming addressing 2020’s unique challenges. The Edinburgh International TV Festival gets underway 24 August online, giving the broadcast industry the “space and time to consider what we’re doing right.” At the Admonsters Publisher Forum (25-26 August), digital media & revenue ops leaders convene in a digital space for keynotes, breakouts, and even pre-schedule matchmaking. And on 25 August, MediaPost Data & Programmatic Insider Summit attempts to “establish what the next normal will be for data driven media planning and buying.”
