Lots to Learn about Learning: After the immense success with their annual HR event, the North American HR Executives Summit (NAHRES), the team at Executive Platforms Inc. has decided to start a specific event focused on learning and development challenges from a strategic level. The North American Learning Executive Summit will take place on 14 – 15 January 2025 at the Hilton Austin in Austin, Texas. The conference organizers expect to attract approximately 200 Chief Learning Officers (CLOs), and heads of Learning & Development, Workforce Enablement, Leadership Development and Talent Management from key brands.
CEOs Retreat! A few months ago Stephanie Mehta, the CEO and chief content officer of Mansueto Ventures, publisher of Fast Company and Inc, wrote a #ModernCEO post highlighting the need for executive self-care. She received such a positive reception that Fast Company is now hosting its first-ever wellness retreat in partnership with Elevation Barn. The retreat is aimed to help participants “uncover their purpose, find focus, and deepen connections with other executives.” The gathering will take place in the scenic Hudson Valley of New York from 14 – 17 June. More on the retreat and planned experiences may be found here.
Submission Opportunity: Money 2020 USA, which sits at the intersection of the payments, commerce, and fintech ecosystem, opened its call for content for their 2024 conference held 27-30 October in Las Vegas. Those with a story to share can submit now through 6 May, but be forewarned: Money 2020 received over 1,800 submissions last year and accepted just over 7% of them! How does a proposal rise above the noise? Lucky for us, the organizers divulge a few hints. Tell a unique story that only you can share. Understand the 2024 theme – expressed through five distinct chapters addressing the very root of what’s happening now and where the industry is going next – and how your topic fits into them. And while broad discussions of policy and regulation are welcome, Money 2020 will not accept any content specific to the November election or taking any political stance from an editorial perspective.
Lunchtime Learning: Most of our readers know that Fortune Most Powerful Women/MPW gathers preeminent women in business each fall to explore collaborative innovation. This year’s program – held 14-16 October in Laguna Niguel – will be the first held with Fortune’s new CEO (and previous CFO) Anastasia Nyrkovskaya at the helm. Attendees must be invited MPW members, but if membership isn’t in the cards, anyone can still view several on-the-record sessions from previous years’ conferences. Some our favorites: 1) Jamaican athlete Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce and WNBA star A’ja Wilson discuss challenges they face as female athletes; 2) U.S. Representative Katie Porter’s talk on why economic diversity in congress matters; 3) Dallas Mavericks CEO Cynt Marshall addressing how to fix a toxic culture; and 4) Melinda Gates shares why we have to make sure women get into seats of power.
Coming Up Next Week: At the Alexander Group Women in Revenue Leaders Forum, held 30 April – 1 May in Chicago, four of every five attendees is a CXO or VP-and-up executive working in senior leadership, sales, marketing, or talent. EDUCAUSE’s Cybersecurity & Privacy Professionals Conference kicks off 1 May in Minneapolis, giving participants in higher ed a chance to network and discuss information security and privacy trends. Spark is a private event series for senior technology and business leaders, focused on open collaboration and sharing of insights and trends in business and technology. This year’s Spark Executive Forum returns to Napa from 1-2 May. Human Capital Institute continues its 2024 event series with the HCI Employee Experience Conference from 1-3 May in Denver and online, covering best practices for topics like designing and implementing wellness programs, coaching for leadership skills, and creating a safe and inclusive workplace. Finally, with keynotes from Agility Robotics, Amazon, Disney, Medtronic and Teradyne, the Robotics Summit rounds out the week 1-2 May in Boston, covering current trends in the design, development, manufacturing, and delivery of commercial robotics.
