Submission Opportunity: Launched a decade ago, the IEEE Women in Engineering International Leadership Conference (WIE ILC) returns after a short hiatus, scheduled for 15-16 May in San Jose. WIE ILC exists to support and sustain women leaders and technologists, especially those in mid to senior career. Now through Monday 4 November, IEEE is accepting proposals that offer the “information or skills that our attendees need to improve their lives, whether that improvement is a new technical, management, or organizational skill.” Topics should fall under one of five conference tracks: Leadership, Career Development, Personal Growth/Well-Being, Emerging Technologies, and Workplace Ecosystem. An IEEE account must be created in order to submit an abstract.
Lunchtime Learning: Although Climate Week New York wrapped a few weeks ago, NYT’s Climate Forward is offering its talks – delivered by world leaders, activists, innovators, and scientists – to view for free online. To listen in on frank discussions about the political, policy, and human effects of our rapidly warming world, check out the Climate Forward 2024 video collection here. It can be difficult to choose a favorite, between Dr. Jane Goodall sharing lessons from a lifetime defending nature, or Al Roker talking climate on the weather report, or a prescient NC Governor Roy Cooper revealing what states can do to fight climate change. Luckily, you can watch them all.
